Listings

All of our preparation up to this point has finally led to this one single moment of truth: the listing. This is where most people have the most trouble, because it is the most intensely-computer involved segment of all.

There are many things to consider, many questions to answer, and plenty of t's that need crossed and i's that need dotted. You will, for all intents and purposes, effectively be creating a legal-binding agreement. You will effectively be saying to the world, "I have this item for sale. I am guaranteeing that it is in this good of a condition, that it weighs so-and-so, and that the shipping charges will be so-and-so. I will also be able to ship your item within this number of days after having received your payment, etc., etc."

Everything you enter here within your listing must be as true as you can honestly say, because if for any reason the item that your buyer receives differs from what you said it was, or how you described it in the listing, your buyer can return it (as his, or potentially at YOUR expense), your buyer can grow frustrated with you and leave you low DSRs (detailed seller ratings- basically your report card as to how well of a seller you are), and, just as bad, leave you -FB (negative feedback).

So, it's extremely important to be as accurate and as precise as possible when writing up a listing. If there is something about which you are unsure, you can ski over it until you've had time to do some research, then come back at a later time and fill-in the necessary information.

You may have seen my 6-part YouTube segment on listing, where I take the viewer on a nearly 1 1/2 hour tour of the ebay listing process, from beginning to end.
